Fabric Storage?

I had a super day on Tuesday which was our final day at our sewing class. We had all brought some food and or drinks so we could celebrate being together whilst learning something new.
Cold drinks, cakes and fruit adorned one of the tables and next to this were our certificates.
Here in the UK we have been in the midst of a heatwave and Tuesday was no exception, as it was around 26°C.
I’ve gleaned a great deal from being with these ladies, socially and practically all mixed together with laughter and learning.
Now I am on my way to hopefully progress further with sewing in general, I have started to realise I have to be organised.
So off I went Monday morning to Hobbycraft to buy some storage boxes, not really knowing what I needed until I got there.
I bought three boxes which were smaller to the ones I already had and these smaller ones are classed as 5 litres in volume.
Everything I know about sewing, someone else has taught me how to do it, whether it be from videos, books, class or from my friends.
This idea I gleaned from YouTube and saw that quite a few people reorganise their craft spaces and their fabric in a similar fashion to this.

I have three Jelly Rolls and two were open. So I fished out these strips from the big jungle of fabric which was sitting in plastic bags. Measured inside of the new boxes, cut card to use to be wrapped with these strips. This took me an afternoon to do and the pieces of card measure 4” 10cm x 3” 7.6cm.
I took a similar approach with bigger pieces of fabric but this time the pieces of card varied in size, depending on how much fabric I had.

The card is nothing special but I know some people use foam board to wrap their fabric around. This is a good idea but I currently am trying to use the card I already have.
So I have gone from two bags full of scrunched up pieces of fabric, to knowing and being able to see what fabric I actually have.
There is still one small bag of scraps so I will be looking for some inspiration on how to store scraps of fabric in a more structured way.
Okay, I’m off to walk the dogs as it is 6:45am as it is fairly cool because looking at the forecast, it will hit 26°C again today.
Thanks for taking the time to visit me, wishing you all the best, Karen.
